Hiking and camping equipment is an absolute must for every hiker on any hike (unless you are in your 1 acre back yard). You feel much close to nature traveling through the woods on your own 2 feet. You have to have certain equipment to make your trip fun, pleasureable and feasible. You should already have a pair of good hiking boots as well as a hiking or camping backpack that will encase the necessities you will need to free up your hands for taking pictures or climbing as well as the hike in general (would get tiring holding items for the entire trip, you still want to enjoy it). Your hiking and camping gear should be both waterproof and lightweight. Depending on how long of a trip you are taking, your backpack could get quite heavy. You need to make sure you can have dry hiking clothes available to you so you can stay dry. You want to carry a GPS, if money allows, helping you to easily find where you are headed. You will also want food and utensils (a spoon, a fork, and a knife) so you don’t go eating with your probably not so clean fingers while hiking. Toilet paper is good to bring too as well as any hand wipes to sanitize your hands for whatever messes you might find yourself in. In short, having toiletries will help!

You can buy discounted equipment right from the factory (usually through a factory outlet of some description) or from second hand places like eBay or in the paper (great places to get quality equipment cheaply). Either way, make sure you keep yourself and your equipment lightweight, and sturdy, so that you can enjoy the experience of being one with nature.
Once you find hiking and camping equipment, the only step left is to find a place go hiking. So go find that special place to make your hiking trip at, and get yourself there. Just keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be a hiking trip that takes you far away from home. Unless you live in the middle of a major metropolitan city, there will no doubt be at least a small hiking track you can practice on near where you currently reside. Chances are that you could have a nature station or local park that could be a good practice for you. Lakes often times have surrounding trails you can utilize.
