Swimming as your daily health plan

Swimming yourself to healthiness!

We live in a busy and fast moving world and time out here goes mostly in hectic and stressful activities. This adversely affects our health but the wealth surely increases! Therefore the society has tried to develop time saving health plans to keep healthy and insure minimal heartburn that comes due to unhealthy regime and consequent sickness. Swimming is one of the work outs, which is also a pastime that is recommended by most medical specialists especially Harley Street and therefore swimming pools become an important venue for our daily health plan. One does not have to be rich to enjoy swimming work outs as anyone can use public swimming pools especially city council pools are open for everyone or you can even visit the local seaside for a gratifying swim.

For those who earn a big amount with a big house to live in, the indoor or above ground pools can turn out to be good investments in the comfort of your own home. Their size depends on the space available in your backyard and even the small plastic inflatable pools can help in maintaining a healthy body. Think of the noble family living in Mayfair who has a small but adequate swimming pool on their roof! For those living in small flats or digs, community swimming pools in local leisure centre is the best solution. Swimming pool equipments like swimming pool pumps, chemicals, heaters and more are easily found in the local swimming pool shop to maintain your pool in a regular basis.

Swimming is one of the most important activities one should teach the young and as they say in some parts of Europe “an infant as it is growing learns first to swim and later becomes a toddler”! Swimming pools have become an important part of many Counties and Boroughs and are efficiently and regularly maintained by the local city councils. They normally charge a small fee as membership or you could use it in pay as you go basis where there is no commitment of monthly charges. There is really nothing more satisfying than a brisk swim in the evening after work for an hour or on the afternoon over the weekend and many young people are today making time for this excellent exercise.

Stay Healthy By Staying Fit

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Perhaps it has something to do with Hollywood and the various celebrities who are always looking terrific, or it might just be something that is somewhat of a natural instinct, the fact is most of us always on the look and feel our best. Staying fit with certain physical activities will not only keep you healthy, it’ll also add a little fun in your life.

So, if you’re like most people, you’re probably looking for a different ways to exercise and stay fit. If so, it’s important that you evaluate the pros and cons of any sport or exercise before you start up. The most important thing you can do is have your doctor evaluate you and give you the green light. We say that because some exercises or activities are too stressful for some people, causing the more harm than good.

Before beginning, it’s best to find the ways that will provide you with the safety and the security that you’ll need. For example, a black helmet will go a long way with almost any sport at any look you’re going for. This will give you the most for your buck. Additionally, you might have to purchase other accessories like me and elbow pads, as well as wrist guards.

Make sure that you don’t forget to put on the various equipment to keep you safe. Statistics have proven that injuries are rising because of the levels of participation in various sports and activities, like biking, rollerblading, etc. Being smart about the whole situation will save you in many ways, regardless of how experienced or inexperienced you may be in a particular activity.

You may also be thinking of taking up the game of golf. And why not? It is one of the most interesting games that can ever be played. But more than that, it can let you enjoy the outdoors, and get some physical exercise from walking, and it let you socialize as well. But if you’re serious about golf, learning how to break 80 is certainly one of your goals. If you stick to it and get some good instruction, you can increase your chances of accomplishing this.

The bottom line is that anything can turn into exercise. Even your housework can help you earn those extra calories. Things like mopping are set to burn up to 80 calories. Of course, that calculation has a lot to do with the size of the job, as well as your speed and effort.

Vacuuming is yet another chore that can help you to burn those extra calories. Of course, if you are using a Dyson DC17 vacuum, you may not burn as many calories as you would with another machine. That’s only because this one is built so well that it doesn’t require much effort to get the job done right. Whichever method you choose to stay fit, the important thing is to do something, anything, and stay true to it.

Body Weight Exercises : Why Dads Should Give Them A Try

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

With jobs to go to, kids to put to bed, homework to check, dishes to get done, and wives to spend time with, it’s really difficult for busy dads to find time to exercise. The easiest way I’ve found to stay in shape is to practice body weight exercises. Here are some reasons why you should be doing body weight exercises if you’re a busy dad…

Effectiveness – Are you wondering if body weight exercises are effective? Just ask the police officers, firemen, and elite fighters who do them on a daily basis. They may not be the biggest guys you’ll ever come across, but they’re all about getting the job done. If you feel like you’ve hit a plateau, you can add weights, increase the reps and do variations. You can use weighted vests to add more resistance to your situps, pullups, etc.

Efficiency – What could be better than free? Body weight exercises are effective and incredibly economical. Just think, you can finally start saving for that pony your daughter has always wanted! Not only are body weight exercises and isometrics financially efficient, they are time efficient too. In certain styles of martial arts there is a strong emphasis on “economy of movement”, which means you shouldn’t exert energy on something if you don’t have to. Focus on the task at hand and get it done with an appropriate amount of effort.

Speed – Body weight and isometric exercises are fast. Some say that an isometric contraction can last for as little as 7 seconds for you to benefit from doing it. When done properly, isometrics make use of more muscle fibers than more isolated exercises, and the more muscle fibers that are used, the more you build up your strength. Your full workout can be completed in just half an hour.

Obviously, lifting weights is incredibly important if you want to get stronger and build lots of muscle. If we could spare an hour for the gym everyday we would. But with a lifestyle that makes staying fit so difficult, body weight training is the best route for the rest of us.

One Can Either Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

It’s a fact that people tend to start aging — both physically and mentally — when they somehow find reasons to stop moving, both physically and mentally. Now, one can either get busy living or get busy dying, the choice is certainly up to people. But the fact is that those who keep moving tend to live longer and more productive lives and hardly ever ‘rust out.’

What this means is that people aren’t actually rusting from the inside — though the phenomenon of oxidative damage, brought on by free radicals in the body — exists. No, what this means is that people who don’t engage their minds or bodies where both really do enjoy life more and enjoy more of it for a lot longer. If that isn’t enough motivation, it’s difficult to figure out what else would be.

Another effective way to engage at least the mind is to try to think up ways — given that this is the Internet age — to make money online that are both legitimate and legal. The single most effective way for most average people is to start a blog, grow and develop it and then began attracting visitors to it. At the least, it’s been proven that such activity can keep even the most elderly in fine mental fitness.

Much of what’s being discussed is more about getting people to understand that staying nimble and on their feet, both figuratively and literally, will do more for them than any amount of Botox or some other plastic surgery alternative could do. Sure, people need to rest, but moving as if somebody’s behind you trying to catch you can be a good way to go through life, not sitting on the porch ending up like a sun-dried raisin.

Another way to stay busy and to actually engage in self improvement and enrichment is to pick up a musical instrument. Go to the local music store, check out something like an Alvarez acoustic guitar, and see if it fits nicely in the right and left hands. Chances are, this very portable and useful instrument will end up being taken home and played on, if given the chance.

Staying busy by engaging in structured household activities — such as regular home maintenance or even cleaning out the house of all the junk that’s accumulated — is another good way of stating off rust and decline. Take a look around the house; pick up that old black helmet that went with an old black motorcycle decades ago and store it away, for example.

It’s very important for people to understand that they don’t have to decline, at least mentally. It’s a fact that physical skills declined to the point where one will never be a superstar pro athlete any longer, but that doesn’t mean that anyone — even those in their 90s — should accept the inevitable rocking chair. In fact, refuse that rocking chair and stay busy to stave off decline.

Is Golf A Healthy Sport?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

So many people think that playing golf is not good for you at all, this is nonsense. Many people actually think that golfers are pretty lazy people and that the way they stand when approaching a shot is not good for them.

This is all a load of old rubbish. The people that drive buggies around the course are usually elderly or just lazy people, most professional golfers really hate the people that drive around in golf carts. Many of the golfers feel that golf trolleys is the answer to this and think that having an automatic golf trolley is better than sitting in a cart the entire time.

It is not really known why people think that standing in that position when taking a shot is actually bad for you, it looks painful I suppose but by no means is it bad for you. If you found that playing golf always gave you a bad back then the chances are you are not actually standing in the correct position.

Excercise is certainly key to nearly every sport and golf is a great way to catch up on some much needed excercise. It would certainly seem that many golfers leave it until the sun is out to play which means walking the entire 18 holes is going to give them great excercise.

So the best thing to do is throw away those carts and get leisure batteries installed into your golf trolley. Of course you have to understand the players using mobility scooter batteries for their carts as they may actually need to sit down most of the time.

What we need now is fitness

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

As Americans, we are losing it. Actually to more properly term it, we have lost it. The obesity epidemic is out of control and there is nothing in site that seems to be saying it will change at any point in time. The food we eat isnt getting any better, the FDA and the chemical companies are in bed together, laws arent made to protect the people any more, they are made to make more money for those involved.

We need to focus on fitness and change our lifestyle. We have to demand better food and start eating better. If companies start losing money they will change what they are doing. Which means we have to change our focus and our lifestyles.

Physical Health and nutrition is the beginning.  As far as physical fitness goes, one of the best programs that can be used is P00X. It contains a very well balanced combination of resistance, cardio, yoga, and stretching, and with P90X you get a Independent Beach Body Coach

P90X is a daily workout routine in which the user works out for about an hour a day. That is something that the NFL is promoting currently with their play 60 program.

We dont get any exercise, thats why 60 minutes sounds like a lot.  For a long time the government was promoting 30 minutes 3 days a week.  Well, either no one is doing it, or its not working, my guess is that it is a combination of both.

We must commit to getting ourselves physically fit, then, we must commit to staying that way and eating right.

There are so many lies we are told about the food we eat it’s flat out incredible.  Milk for example.  Cows milk contains blood and puss. Nauseous? Yea, I was too when I found out.  But its true.  In order to get cows to produce more milk so companies can make more money, they give the cows bovine growth hormone, which makes them over produce milk. Cows arent hand milked any more, they are all milked by machines.  Imagine if we had something of an utter that was constantly milked on for 10 hours a day… raw?  Yes.  Cows get lesions and sores that get infected, and the blood and puss get transfered to the milk.

This is just one atrocity that we live with as far as food goes.  We are at crises time in this country and it has to change.

Creating Your Perfect Workout Program

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

So you’ve made the decision to commit to weight loss and get fit! Super! This is the first step. At this juncture, many people choose to join a local gym or YMCA, but this may not be the best option for everyone.

If you are someone that has a lot of weight to lose you may be intimidated by the thought of going to a gym where most people appear to be in shape. By the way, no one really minds what you look like for the most part, so do not shy away from public workouts for this reason if you can help it. The perfect choice for where you are at could be to workout at home in an environment that you are comfortable with and have more control over.

Now let’s cover some possible exercise routines that may be perfect for you.

There are a lot of wonderful exercise DVD’s available now and you can pretty much design the program that is best for you. This may depend on your current level of endurance and whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced when it comes to aerobic workouts and what you can handle when it comes to the intensity of a workout. Maybe you want to design your workouts to hit specific muscles such as your abs, arms, thighs or glutes. Whatever your fitness target, you are sure to find some kind of workout that will meet your needs.

One super example of a great program that you’ve probably seen on TV infomercials as it has become quite popular, is the P90X Peak Results Package by Beachbody. The workouts are led by known personal trainer Tony Horton and they are very high in intensity to say the least. This package is based on a 90 day workout routine that is designed to have you seeing quick results. Many people have had great luck with this program, so if you are ready for some major transformation, I would suggest that you start here.

Wonderful home workouts for cardio might include walking or riding a bicycle if you reside where you have sunny weather year round. If you do have a winter season where it is harder to get outside to workout, you might think about buying some equipment such as a good treadmill, an elliptical machine or a stationary bicycle just to name a few suggestions.

There are also several routines that you can buy on DVD that are great for the person that has little time but is determined to fit exercise into their daily lifestyle. There are many 10 minute workout DVD’s and I personally swear by the older 8 minute Abs DVD which I use 5 times a week because it is SO fast! Famous trainer, Jillian Michaels even has a super workout program that covers cardio and strength training in roughly 20 minutes a day. This is called the 30 Day Shred and it packs a powerful punch to say the least!

The most important thing you can do when organizing your workout program, is to get started. Period. Select something, whether you’re ready for the challenge of the P90X, investing in your home gym equipment or easing into your exercise with some 10 minute workouts throughout your day, choose to get started now. One of the best things you can do for your health and life is to start working out on a regular basis. Make the commitment to one thing today and gain the momentum to start moving forward.
